Barely weeks after the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max hit shelves, a familiar gremlin appears to have crept back into Apple's flagship screens.
Some buyers are reporting stray green, pink and red lines running down the display, reviving a complaint that has dogged the company's phones for years.
Social media posts show the vertical lines appearing on the new devices, with some users claiming their handsets were replaced after they contacted Apple, NDTV reports.
Similar reports have surfaced in India and other markets, though the scale of the issue remains unclear.
There is no evidence the problem is widespread or tied to a specific hardware component, the Indian outlet said.
Several posts on the issue have gained traction online.
Users have also posted sarcastic comments linking the display fault to Samsung, given the South Korean tech giant's long-standing role in supplying displays for iPhones.
"This is a known issue that happens with Samsung screens sometimes. Mostly Samsung phones but considering they make most of the screens for Apple I assume it was just a bad panel lottery," one user commented, according to NDTV.
"Isn't this the same line that happens on the S line of phones?" another user asked.
Samsung Display supplies Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Silicon Oxide Plus (LTPO+) OLED panels for Apple's high-end phones.
These panels use oxide technology in the driver unit to improve power efficiency.
This is not the first instance of iPhone users encountering display lines, with similar complaints affecting earlier iterations, including the iPhone X, 13, and 14 Pro lines, NDTV said.
Apple unveiled the latest lineup on Sept 9.
