Dhaka, Sept 12 (BDNEWS) – We became the premier league champions playing better football, not the fixed matches, said Brothers coach Wazed Gazi Monday.
"It is the best achievement in my coaching carrier," said the spellbound coach Gazi, who took the Brothers Union charge this season after making Sheikh Russel KC runners-up in the last season, in his post-match reaction.
Brothers skipper Mohammad Sujan echoed the voice of coach: We have proved that we didn't play the fixed matches, and we proved on the field.
He added that they lost their rhythm in the mid way of the league after being accused of match fixing allegations despite brilliant beginning in the premiership.
League's top scorer Russian striker Edward Victor, the mechanic of becoming champions, said that he was happy after being member of the champions for twice. He added that he just tried to put on his responsibilities.
On the other hand, the Mohammedans coach Qazi Jasimuddin Josi said that they were disappointed after failing to regain the title terming the day's penalty shot was unfair.
"Ronny made a good save, but referee awarded a penalty to Brothers," Josi said, "Referee was in front of Victor and how he saw Ronny pulled back Victor."
Skipper Alfaz Ahmed also called the penalty decision was unfair and referee could have ignored it.
However, the skipper blamed the Mohammedans management for giving the place of Sierra Leon striker Donald in the squad.
