Dhaka, Oct 6 (bdnews24.com) - The Bangladesh Shooting Federation (BSF) on Wednesday has claimed Asif Hossain Khan was denied a better result after being 'distracted' and 'harassed' by Indian officials at the Commonwealth Games.
Asif finished ninth in the 10m air rifle event. Indians Gagan Narang and Abhinav Bindra won gold and silver respectively while James Huckle of England finished with the bronze.
At the 2002 Manchester Games, Asif clinched gold in the same event.
BSF general secretary Ishtiak Ahmed said in a press conference that according to the rules, Bangladesh shooting team should have received the clearance letter for their weapons and kit before the Games began.
"Instead, several authority officials continued to examine the Bangladesh shooters over and over which apparently was very distressing," he said.
Ishtiak said that they informed the authority but no steps were taken about that.
He told bdnews24.com, "Shooting is a game of concentration and if anyone intentionally creates problem, it's really hard to recover.
"Asif's concentration has been badly affected," he also claimed.
Asif and Abdullah Hel Baki won bronze in the 10m air rifle pairs event on Tuesday.
