Dhaka, March 17 (BDNEWS) – The Independence Day Cup Hockey tournament has been deferred by four days marking respect to the death of the Federation's Joint Secretary Zahidur Rahman Pushkin, officials said Thursday.
He died of massive brain haemorrhage Wednesday. The tournament was scheduled to begin Friday.
A total of six teams will take part in the tournament. They are Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Air Force and Bangladesh Navy, Bangladesh Police, Old Dhaka Development Board and Barnak Samaj.
The hockey federation will arrange a milad mahfil next Monday for the peace of the departed soul.
