Dhaka, July 24 (BDNEWS) – Dhaka began their National Football Championship campaign in fashion with a convincing 3-0 victory over Madaripur at Shariatpur Stadium Monday.
Dhaka went ahead in the 28th minute with Madaripur conceded a own. Mahbub doubled the Dhaka margin in the 35th minute while Gafur confirmed the victory with team's third goal three minutes into the second half.
Comilla also started well with a solitary goal victory over Bramanbaria in the Habiganj venue opener with Pintu Das scoring the match-winner in the 60th minutes.
At Magura Stadium, Kushtia registered a lone goal win over Jessore to reach the zonal semifinal. Khalek scored the all-important goal for the winners.
Barisal set the zonal semifinal clash against the hosts Pirojpur when they handed down a 2-1 defeat to Barguna at Pirojpur Stadium.
Masud parvez scored two goals for the winners while Moniruzzaman Nantu netted the lone goal for the losers.
At Dhaka Army Stadium, both the matches – Bangladesh Army vs Bangladesh Navy, and Bangladesh Air Force vs Bangladesh Police -- ended in goalless draws.
