Bangladesh advance in Davis Cup

Dhaka, April 4 (bdnews24.com) – Bangladesh became group champions in the Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Zone Group-IV with a match to go when the hosts blanked Qatar 3-0 at the National Tennis Complex on Saturday.
By emerging group champions, Bangladesh qualified for the Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Zone, Group-III, the venue and date is yet to be finalished.
Shibu Lal beat Jabor Al Mutawa 6-0, 6-0, Amol Roy beat Abdullah Al-Hahi 6-2, 7-5 in singles while Ranjan Ram and Shibu Lal defeated Jabor Al-Mutawa and Mousa Zayed 6-0, 6-0 to ensure a 3-0 rout and qualified for the next competition.
Apart from Bangladesh's win, Turkmenistan beat Jordan 3-0, Vietnam beat Yemen 3-0 and United Arab Emirates beat Iraq 3-0.
Bangladesh will face Myanmar Sunday.
