Writer Shahidul Zahir dies

Acting CHT affairs secretary and writer Shahidul Huq, popularly known as Shahidul Zahir, died at LabAid Cardiac Hospital Sunday at the age of 55, a hospital official said. Mesbah Azad, media coordinator of the hospital, told bdnews24.com: "Shahidul Zahir was admitted to LabAid on March 21 after he suffered a cardiac attack."

Dhaka, March 23 (bdnews24.com)—Acting CHT affairs secretary and writer Shahidul Huq, popularly known as Shahidul Zahir, died at LabAid Cardiac Hospital Sunday at the age of 55, a hospital official said.
Mesbah Azad, media coordinator of the hospital, told bdnews24.com: "Shahidul Zahir was admitted to LabAid on March 21 after he suffered a cardiac attack."
Zahir was admired by literary critics in Bangladesh. Two of his published novels are
Jiban O Rajnoitik Bastobata
and
Se Ratey Purnima Chhilo.
Zahir was initially treated at Ibrahim Cardiac Centre where he suffered a major cardiac failure on March 21. He was later transferred to LabAid, where had been receiving treatment under the supervision of Dr Wadud Chowdhury.
A four-member medical board comprising Prof Jalaluddin, Dr Sohrabuzzaman, Dr Lutfar Rahman and Dr Wadud Chowdhury was formed the same night for Zahir.
He had been in the coronary care unit on life support. On March 22, another 10-member medical board was formed for his treatment.
Born in Hasir under Raiganj upazila of Sirajganj in 1953, Zahir joined Bangladesh Civil Service in 1981. He was unmarried.
