Dhaka, Oct 07 (bdnews24.com)—Bangladesh's first Prime Minister Tajuddin Ahmad's daughter Simeen Hussain Rimi on Sunday took oath as a Member of Parliament from Gazipur-4 constituency.
She was sworn in a week after she won by-election in the seat her younger brother Tanjim Ahmed, better known as Sohel Taj, vacated after he resigned as MP.
Speaker Abdul Hamid administered the oath at his office.
Deputy Leader in Parliament Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Industries Ministry Tofail Ahmed, Whips Nur-E-Alam Chowdhury and Sagufta Yasmin, and Awami League's Presidium Member Zohra Tajuddin, mother of Rimi, were present during the ceremony.
Parliament's Acting Secretary Md Mahfuzur Rahman conducted the ceremony.
Rimi won the by-election polling 63, 401 votes. Her nearest rival Afsar Uddin Ahmad Khan, her uncle who contested as an independent candidate, got 26,349 votes.
Family members of Rimi and high officials of the Secretariat also attended the ceremony.
