Dhaka, June 20 (BDNEWS) – President Professor Dr Iajuddin Ahmed returned home Tuesday noon after a bypass surgery at the Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore.
A VVIP flight of the Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the President from Singapore landed at the Zia International Airport at 12 noon.
The President walked down the stairs and exchanged greetings with Speaker Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar.
Ministers, chiefs of the three services and high civil and military officials also greeted him at the airport tarmac.
However, Acting President Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar will run the office until the President takes over, said a press release of Bangabhaban.
The president was taken to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) for medical check-up as per the advice of the doctors in the Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore where he was treated.
Prof Iajuddin was flown to Singapore on May 24 for treatment of his cardiac complications. He was earlier admitted to CMH as he felt chest pain.
A team of expert physicians, led by cardiologist Dr MC Tong, operated upon the President successfully at the Mount Elizabeth Hospital.
After close observation and treatment by the physicians, he became sound although he had developed some post-operative complications.
