Dhaka, Oct 6 (bdnews24.com) – Satkhira-4 MP HM Golam Reza has been expelled from the Jatiya Party on Saturday for allegedly breaching party discipline.
JP Chairman HM Ershad expelled him as per the Section 39 of the party's Constitution, the party said in a media statement.
It said Reza's reply to a show cause notice served earlier was not satisfcatory.
Golam Reza was served with the show cause notice on charge of 'breaching' the party discipline on Oct 3. He was asked to reply to the notice by 12pm Saturday.
Earlier on Oct 2, Reza was removed as the Whip of JP's parliamentary partyt and also from the party's Presidium. Mujibul Haque Chunnu MP, also a member of JP Presidium, replaced Reza.
Jatiya Party brought allegations against Reza that he secured nomination from party by submitting 'fake' information and and 'concealing' facts.
Jatiya Party Presidium Member Tajul Islam Chowdhury told bdnews24.com, "Reza claimed in his biodata that he had passed the Higher Secondary School Certificates (HSC), actually he passed only ninth grade.
"He was also accused in a murder case and fled to Kuwait where he worked as a worker. But he portaryed himself as a businessman," he alleged.
When contacted for his reaction, Reza said that he was busy.
