The Jamaat-e-Islami is worried over the Appellate Division verdict upholding death penalty for BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury for war crimes.

The reaction of the party, which directly opposed Bangladesh’s independence in 1971, came in a statement issued by its acting Secretary General Shafiqur Rahman on Wednesday.
The Jamaat is a component of the BNP-led 20-Party alliance.
The statement said: “The government is pushing Salauddin Quader Chowdhury towards death like senior Jamaat-e-Islami leaders, as part of a strategy to annihilate patriotic national leaders of opposition parties.
