Dhaka, Feb 22 (bdnews24.com)— Former Awami League MP and Liberation War organiser Md Lutfor Rahman died, aged 81, in LabAid hospital early Friday morning.
He was buried in his family graveyard in Polashpara of Gaibandha Friday evening.
Earlier, in the morning, his first namaz-e-janaza was held in front of the AL office in Dhanmondi while the second at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
Presidium members Amir Hossain Amu, Abdur Razzak and Tofail Ahmed, acting general sectary Syed Ashraful Islam and other central leaders as well as workers of different levels attended the janaza.
Earlier, presidium members Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, Suranjit Sengupta and other leaders and workers paid their last respects to the late leader when his body was brought to the AL office.
Speaker Jamiruddin Sircar, deputy speaker advocate Akhtar Hamid Siddiqui, former deputy leader of the opposition advocate Abdul Hamid and other former members of parliament attended the Sangsad Bhaban janaza.
Later, the coffin carrying the body of the elderly politician was taken by road to his home village in Gaibandha where a third janaza was held at Palashpara High School ground.
Lutfor Rahman had been elected member of parliament for the Gaibhanda-2 seat in the 1973, 1979 and 2001 elections.
He was also elected member of the Pakistan National Assembly in 1970.
