The veteran politician was taken to Max Hospital at Mehedibagh on Thursday afternoon for kidney dialysis.

“He felt discomfort during the dialysis. We put him on life support at the intensive care unit in the evening,” the hospital’s Managing Director Dr Liakat Ali told bdnews24.com.

Mohiuddin’s aide Osman Gani earlier told bdnews24.com that the Awami League leader was brought to the hospital for routine dialysis.

The 73-year-old has been suffering from heart and kidney complications for a long time.

He was admitted to the Max Hospital on Nov 11 after falling ill and airlifted to Dhaka’s Square Hospital the following day.

He was taken to Singapore on Nov 16 for better treatment. He underwent a surgery there. After returning to Bangladesh, he was admitted to the Square Hospital again.

He returned home in Chittagong on Tuesday.
