Dhaka, Dec 9 (bdnews24.com) – Fugitive, convict film actor and ex-BNP ward commissioner Monwar Hossain Dipjol was arrested by Rapid Action Battalion in Mirpur in the capital on Tuesday.
"He has been detained in a relative's house in Mirpur at 4:30pm," Col Gulzaruddin Ahmed, additional director general of the elite anticrime unit, said to bdnews24.com.
He said they were questioning him.
Dipjol has been convicted for at least 45 years in 12 cases on charges of murder, extortion, tax-dodge and illegal possession of arms.
Dipjol, who played the antagonist in Bangla movies and also directed a few, had been on the run since emergency was declared in Jan. 11, 2007.
Dipjol's wife, Romana Monwar, has been convicted of a raft of charges and released on bail from jail.
