Farewells to Didarul, a brave son of Bangladesh

It seems as if the entirety of New York City took to the streets on Thursday, Jul 31, 2025, to bid farewell to Didarul Islam, a brave New York Police officer of Bangladeshi origin. Thousands of colleagues, expatriate Bangladeshis, and ordinary New Yorkers came together to bid farewell to amid tears, love, and deep respect. A guard of honour by the police department, a coffin draped with a national flag, and a long mourning procession left a striking, if painful mark.
