BSF catches 2 Bangladeshis

The two cattle traders are detained from Thakurgaon border area.

Thakurgaon, Dec 1 (bdnews24.com) — A day after the outgoing BSF chief advocated legalising cattle trade between the two countries, the Indian Border Security Force detained two Bangladeshi cattle traders from Thakurgaon border area on Friday.

The Border Guard Bangladesh officials said their Indian counterpart arrested the duo on Friday night from near the Baliadangi upazila's Mondulala border.

Police identified the youths as Rabiul Islam, 24, and Sirajul Islam, 26, hailing from the upazila's Ratnai-Kashibari village.

Officer in Charge of the Baliadangi Police Station Asaduzzaman told bdnews24.com the BSF chased some cattle traders near the border's pillar No. 382 when they crossed the border.

"Rabiul and Sirajul were caught while the rest escaped," he said.

BGB Commander of the 30th Battalion Lt Col Touhidul Islam said he had heard about the matter and would take necessary steps.
