A child with a confirmed case of measles and three others with measles-like symptoms have died during a 24-hour count in Bangladesh.
Their deaths take the suspected death toll since the start of the outbreak to 605.
Thursday’s regular bulletin on measles from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday said 69 new cases of measles have been confirmed in the previous 24 hours to 8am.
Since Mar 15, 91 people have died of confirmed measles cases across the country since Mar 15.
In addition, 514 people have died with symptoms consistent with the highly-infectious disease.
So far, the Dhaka Division has seen the highest number of deaths with 210, while the Rajshahi Division has logged 85.
Sylhet has seen 61 deaths, while, 45 people have died in Chattogram, 47 in Mymensingh, 37 in Barishal, 22 in Khulna and seven in Rangpur.
The DGHS says that in the last 24 hours, 1,136 people have come to the hospital with measles symptoms; of whom 1,036 have been admitted.
Dhaka recorded the highest number of hospital admissions with 397 over the period. Rangpur saw the lowest number with 18.
So far, Bangladesh has recorded 9,260 measles cases, but the suspected caseload is severalfold higher, standing at 75,708.
