Bangladesh's measles outbreak has claimed three more lives in a day. One of the victims had a confirmed case of measles, while the two others exhibited symptoms consistent with the disease.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) says that 79 confirmed cases of the disease were detected over the 24-hour period from 8am on Tuesday.
The DGHS has been issuing the daily bulletin since Mar 15.
According to the DGHS Tuesday's measles bulletin, 95 people with confirmed measles cases have died since then, while the remaining 735 died with symptoms of the viral disease.
The Dhaka Division has recorded the highest casualties with 320 deaths, followed by Sylhet with 107.
Rajshahi logged 91 deaths, Chattogram 61, Barishal 44, Mymensingh 69, Khulna 32, and Rangpur 11.
During the same period, 996 people with measles symptoms sought treatment at hospitals across the country, with 925 admitted.
Hospitals in the Dhaka Division admitted 388 patients, followed by Chattogram with 199, Barishal 126, Sylhet 102, Mymensingh 40, Khulna 30, Rajshahi 22, and Rangpur 18.
The total number of hospital admissions linked to measles has now reached 109,66.
Of them, 105,198 patients have recovered and returned home.
Bangladesh began seeing a surge in measles cases at the start of the year, with the outbreak spreading across the country by late February.
