The 73-year old was taken to the private health facility in Dhaka’s Gulshan on Friday.

The hospital’s duty manager on Sunday night told bdnews24.com: “He (Razzak) was brought in with breathing troubles. He is currently now in ICU.”

Razzak’s respiratory issues were old, said the manager, adding that the actor was under chest diseases specialist Dr Adnan Yusuf Choudhury’s supervision.

Quoting the doctors, Razzak’s younger son ‘Samrat’ told reporters that his father was out of danger.

“He is in a good condition. But the doctors have decided to keep him under observation in the ICU.”

Samrat said the journalists might have to wait until Monday morning to find out about his father’s health.

Razzak, fondly called as ‘Nayak Raj’ (king of heroes), is still active in showbiz.

The matinee idol of yesteryear had started his career in television before making it to the silver screen in the 1960s.

He received Bangladesh’s highest civilian honour, Independence Award, this year for his role in the cultural arena.

Bangladesh government three years ago gave him a lifetime achievement award. The actor also has nearly every award of the entertainment industry in his bag.

Besides acting in and producing numerous films, Razzak has directed over 16 movies so far.
