MUMBAI, Sep 27 (bdnews24.com/Reuters) - India football captain Bhaichung Bhutia has turned down small films, but he is willing to act in big-ticket Bollywood movies even if they are just cameo roles, a newspaper reported on Wednesday.
Bollywood filmmakers in the past have featured sports stars in bit roles to add to the appeal of their films but most of those roles starred cricketers.
Bhutia has been among the few football players who has achieved star status.
Now, he thinks he could put his appeal to use in films but only if they are of big Bollywood producers.
"It is true that I have received some film offers, but they have come from regional directors," Bhutia, who skippered India to a rare championship title in the five-nation Nehru Cup in August, was quoted as saying by DNA newspaper.
"Some of the scripts were good - I don't mind playing a cameo if a big Bollywood director approaches me."
