Speculation over BLACKPINK star Lisa’s possible casting in Disney’s live-action adaptation of Tangled has stirred excitement among fans and film enthusiasts worldwide.

According to a report by The Times of India, the much-anticipated project has gained renewed momentum months after news broke that Avengers actress Scarlett Johansson may play the cunning Mother Gothel.

It said a surprising shortlist of contenders has emerged for the coveted role of Rapunzel -- including Euphoria’s Sydney Sweeney, Sex Education star Aimee Lou Wood, and global K-pop sensation Lisa.

The report read that fans have been particularly vocal about Lisa’s possible casting, after her acting debut in The White Lotus where she played Mook, a staff member at the luxury resort.

It added that her global popularity and charismatic presence have made her a fan-favourite contender to step into the role of the golden-haired princess.

Disney’s casting choice will depend on both strong acting credentials and vocal prowess, given that the original animated film is celebrated for its timeless songs -- from When Will My Life Begin? to Mother Knows Best and I See the Light, the report noted.

Johansson, meanwhile, has recently teased that the whispers around her involvement “may not be untrue,” according to the report.

The Times of India added that the project, once delayed amid a wave of underperforming live-action remakes, is now said to be firmly back on track.

The original Tangled -- a sweeping tale of love, light and liberation -- enchanted audiences upon its release, earning nearly $600 million worldwide.

As for Lisa’s professional calendar, the report said the singer is rumoured to be returning to the studio for a new BLACKPINK album, even as she eyes her next big screen venture alongside Ma Dong-seok in an upcoming film.

If the rumours prove true, this live-action Tangled could weave together a cast as dazzling as the lanterns that once filled Rapunzel’s sky -- a dreamscape of music, magic and modern stardom waiting to shine anew.
