As battery-run rickshaws grow in popularity, pedal rickshaws are becoming rarer. Most drivers do not want to drive pedal rickshaws due to the difficulties in running them. Although pedal rickshaws are still available at various garages in Dhaka, some of the owners say that there is a widespread shortage of willing drivers. Although the deposit fee for taking a rickshaw is not high, drivers are opting for battery-run rickshaws.
