On Friday, BUET students dragged a DU student to their Titumir Hall in the afternoon following some incidents of Thursday.

The DU students then attacked and ransacked the BUET hall before snatching their peer, identified as 'Imran', away in the evening.

The students of the two nearby universities, carrying sticks, later came face to face at Polashi intersection and traded brickbats.

Those injured in the clashes have been identified as Abu Abdullah, Dibya Mandal, 'Sourov', 'Muhuri', and 'Sadman', all students of BUET. They were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

The situation calmed down when the police and Bangladesh Chhatra League leaders intervened around 10:30pm. The students returned to their halls at the time.

Meanwhile, BUET students beat up a DU student, Abbas Qureshi, who was accompanying his girlfriend, a BUET student, to her hall in the evening.

The girl was also assaulted as she refused to leave her boyfriend, witnesses said.

Dhaka University Proctor AKM Golam Rabbani told bdnews24.com the university authorities have formed a committee to investigate the entire incident.

On Thursday evening, a group of BUET students, carrying sticks and cricket stumps, chased away outsiders, alleging they had come to their campus to smoke marijuana.

They also drove away couples who got intimate.

A Dhaka University student was among the couples. Witnesses said the BUET students asked him to leave when he showed his ID card.

An altercation took place between the DU student and the BUET students when some of them allegedly hurled invectives targeting the female student.

The couple left when the other students intervened.

Later on Thursday night, a group of students from DU's Shaheed Sergeant Zahurul Haque Hall beat up a BUET student at Polashi following the altercation in the evening.

The son of a BUET employee witnessed Thursday's incidents and confirmed those to bdnews24.com. He requested anonymity.
