Dhaka University authorities have expelled three students for six months over harassing two women and two men at the Teacher Student Centre (TSC).

In a statement on Tuesday, the university said the students were expelled following recommendations from a probe committee.

The expelled students are Shahriar Islam Tushar from the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies, Rakib Ahmed Sohan from the Department of World Religions and Culture, and Shahriar Tanzil from the Department of Anthropology.

In a video social media clip, one of the suspects is seen holding a bamboo cane while kicking a woman in the early hours of Feb 25.

One of the women is heard questioning the safety of females on the campus, referring to "assaults by male students" who claim their dresses portray them as “prostitutes”.

Another is heard expressing anger, asking "why she was slapped" and questioning how a student of Dhaka University could strike her.
