Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) has held the Academic Awards Ceremony 2025, recognising students for outstanding academic performance up to the Autumn 2024 semester.
The university said in a media statement that the event took place on Thursday at the campus auditorium, where students were honoured under five merit categories based on sustained academic excellence.
The Vice-Chancellor’s Honour List includes those who achieved a CGPA of 3.86 or higher for three consecutive semesters, while the Vice Chancellor’s List recognises students maintaining a CGPA of at least 3.50 over the same period, it added.
The statement read that to qualify for the Dean’s Honour List, students must secure a CGPA of 3.76 or above in two successive semesters, and the Dean’s Merit List includes those maintaining a minimum CGPA of 3.50 for two consecutive semesters.
It added that students earning a CGPA above 3.50 in any single semester are placed on the Dean’s List, and a student may qualify for more than one list.
IUB said all awardees received certificates, while students on the Vice-Chancellor’s Honour List and Dean’s Honour List received cash prizes of Tk 10,000 and Tk 5,000.
According to the press note, a total of 1,310 students earned places on the merit lists in Autumn 2024, representing 12 percent of the student body.
This marks a continued rise from previous semesters -- 1,109 awardees (11 percent) in Summer 2024 and 974 awardees (10 percent) in Spring 2024 -- reflecting consistent growth in both the number and proportion of high-performing students.
The university noted that women accounted for 65% of this year’s award recipients.
