Land port status for Bhomra

The Bhomra land customs station in Satkhira district has been declared a full-fledged land port, fulfilling the demand of the business community.

Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan made the announcement at a function on Saturday.

The Bhomra land customs station was inaugurated in 1996.

The minister told the function, “With the completion of Padma Bridge, Bhomra land port will turn into the country’s main commercial land port increasing trade and commerce with India. The businessmen who use the port will have all the necessary facilities.”

Presided over by Chairman of Bangladesh Land Port Authority M Moiz Uddin Ahmed, the function was addressed, among others, by Satkhira-1 parliamentary constituency lawmaker Mujibur Rahman, district Deputy Commissioner Anwar Hossain Hawlader, Superintendent of Police Md. Asaduzzaman and Bhomra C&F Agents Association President Nesar Uddin.
