BTCL DGM held in VoIP case

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) arrested on Thursday a top official of state-owned telecom company BTCL in an illegal Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) case.

An ACC team led by Deputy Director A K M Shahidur Rahman arrested Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited Deputy General Manager AKM Asaduzzaman at his office at Gulshan Avenue, ACC Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told bdnews24.com.

"He has been arrested on charges of embezzlement using VoIP and money-laundering. He was the Departmental Engineer of BTCL's ITS department during the incident," Bhattacharya said.

He also said five illegal VoIP cases have been filed against several BTCL officials. Asaduzzaman was accused in all the cases.
