Dhaka, March 27 (BDNEWS) – A writ petition was filed Sunday in the High Court demanding cancellation of the written test on Mathematics and Practical Science of 25th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examinations held on February 24 for leakage of the question paper.
After hearing the petition, the High Court issued a rule upon the government to show cause as to why it (government) should not be directed to hold the examination again in this subject after cancelling it.
The rule made by a division bench of the High Court comprising Justice MA Matin and Justice AFM Abdur Rahman is returnable within three weeks.
Mahfuz Akram, President of Jatiya Chhatradhara, students wing of Gono Forum, and two candidates of the examination, including Mohammad Rashed, filed the writ petition.
They submitted that the written test on Mathematics and Practical Science in the 25th BCS examination was held on February 24 last. The question paper was leaked in the night of 23rd February, the day before holding of the examination.
A GD had been filed with Ramna Police Station regarding the leakage of the question paper before half an hour of starting of the examination. Reports were published in daily newspapers on leakage of the question paper.
Chairman and Examination Controller of Public Service Commission (PSC) and Secretary to the Establishment Ministry have been made respondents in the writ petition.
Dr Kamal Hossain and advocate Sheikh Akhterul Islam moved for the petitioners before the court while assistant attorney general Rajik-al-Jalil for the government.
