Dhaka, April 4 (BNDEWS) – One of the organisers of the Liberation War and member of Awami League advisory committee Abdul Mannan died Monday after prolonged illness. He was 80.
Mannan, the health minister in Bangabandhu's post-independence cabinet, served as Information Minister in the Mujibnagar government-in-exile during the War of Liberation.
The veteran Awami League leader went into comma in May last year and was under treatment off and on in hospital and his residence. He died at his Elephant road residence at 3:30 pm Monday.
Family sources said his first namaj-e-janaza will be held at the Airplane Mosque in Elephant Road after Magreb prayer and second one in front of the Awami League central office at Bangabandhu Avenue.
His body will be taken to his village home in Tangail and is likely to be buried Tuesday.
