US envoy to be grandpa soon

The US ambassador to Bangladesh, Dan Mozena, said he would be a ‘grandpa’ for the first time in October.

He said this while visiting Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University in Dhaka on Wednesday.

Mozena made the announcement as he lamented the newborn deaths in Bangladesh.

“In October I will be a grandpa for the first time, so this number…21,5000 (annual newborn deaths in Bangladesh)…is particularly heart-wrenching for me,” he said.

Mozena joined the US’s Dhaka mission in November 2011.

His wife Grace is a retired elementary school teacher. They are parents of two children, Anne and Mark.
