Two buses torched in Dhaka during BNP-blockade

Two buses were set on fire in the capital on Saturday during the BNP-led alliance's indefinite transport blockade.

A bus was attacked and torched around 8:45am at Old Dhaka's Rayerbagh area leaving a female student of Jagannath University (JnU) badly burnt.

The victim , Sultana Islam, an anthropology student of JnU, has been admitted to the National Medical College and Hospital at Old Dhaka.

She has suffered severe burns on her left leg, according to the hospital's doctor Rashedul Hassan.

Hassan said she would be shifted to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.

"A group of men set fire to the bus as soon as it reached Rayerbagh. Four to five other people were also injured," Sultana Islam said while speaking to bdnews24.com at the hospital.

Earlier around 7am, a bus was attacked and torched at the city's Mirpur area, said Fire Service Control Room Operator Shahjadi Sultana. No casualties were reported, she added.
