"Those who want Bangladesh to be destroyed, are desperate to protect the war criminals and have unleashed violence across the country attacked us," he told a rally at Bogra's Satmatha on Friday night.

"Find these terrorists immediately and hand them exemplary punishment."

He said bomb attacks would not be able to stop the Mancha's activities. “We knew that it won't be smooth before choosing this path. But we are determined to reach our goal.”

“Now that we have hit the streets, we the youths of Bangladesh will return home only after combating these forces,” he said.

Demanding the immediate banning of the Jamaat-e-Islami and its students’ wing, Chhatra Shibir, Sarker said, “Today, at Satmatha, we are vowing to build for future generations a Bangladesh that will have no place for war criminals, fundamentalists and communal forces.”

He made it clear that the Mancha’s road march, aimed at ending communal terror, would not retreat, no matter how formidable the obstacles ahead.

“Tomorrow, we will set out from Bogura again. We know we will encounter resistance, but we are not going to stop.”

Sarker pledged that the Mancha would cover every part of the country to combat the Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir and dislodge them from the country.

The Mancha had started its road march towards Thakurgaon on Friday morning from capital Dhaka's Shahbagh in protest against the communal attacks at different districts in the country after the Jan 5 general election.

At least two people were injured when miscreants hurled handmade bombs several times on the Mancha's convoy. The attacks were carried out between 7:30pm and 8:30pm in three areas in Bogra - Sherpur's Sherua Bottola, Banani bypass and near Potki bridge at Shahjahanpur.

The injured were identified as Bangladesh Chhatra Maitree General Secretary Tanvir Rusmot and Maksudul Alam, 65, a 1971 Liberation War-wounded freedom fighter.

“This terrorist group has killed 22 people, including Rajib Haider. But we are not going to yield any ground. We will rest only after rebuffing such attacks, even if it means shedding the last drop of our blood,” Sarker said.

Addressing the gathering, he said, “You are the second generation of freedom fighters. It is your responsibility to combat all sinister forces and surge ahead.”

“We have only one enemy – those who do not endorse the birth and existence of Bangladesh,” he added.

Addressing the rally at Bogra town's Satmatha, Imran Sarker also criticised the government for not acting tough against those involved in the attacks on the Hindus.

"The government is doing nothing even after all these incidents. They have not banned Jamaat and Shibir. Why is it taking so long to conduct raids against them?" he asked.
