The fresh nomenclature for it would be the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, said a government handout on Monday.
It said the new ministry would include two divisions, Posts and Telecommunications Division and the Information and Communication Technology Division.
Abdul Latif Siddiqui became the minister for both the ministries after Awami League cabinet was finalised.
Zunaid Ahmed Palak was made the state minister for ICT ministry.
The science, information and communication technology ministry was split into two ministries -- science and technology and ICT -- during the Awami league's last government.
