Syed's 3rd janaza at DU central mosque

The third namaz-e-janaza of the late literary figure Abdul Mannan Syed will be held at Dhaka University Central Mosque.

Dhaka, Sep 6 (bdnews24.com)—The third namaz-e-janaza of the late literary figure Abdul Mannan Syed will be held at Dhaka University Central Mosque.
The 67-year-old poet and literary critique fell sick during Iftar on Sunday and died on his way to the city's LabAid Cardiac Hospital.
He had been suffering from cardiac complications for a long time.
Syed's body was taken to his Green Road residence from LabAid at around 7.30pm on Sunday. Later the body was kept in BIRDEM mortuary.
His body was taken to Green Road Mosque early on Monday morning where his first namaz-e-janaza was held. It was attended by the writer's relatives, friends and well wishers.
Following the janaza, his body was taken to Bangla Academy premises and kept on the academy's Bat Tala stage for his fans and admirers to pay their last tribute. Different organisations paid their homage placing wreaths on the writer's coffin.
The second namaz-e-janaza of the poet was attended by well-wishers and admirers.
The writer's family members said his body will be buried at Azimpur graveyard after performing the third janaza at Dhaka University Central Mosque.
Syed has left behind his wife Sayra Syed, the only child Jinan Shampa and numerous admirers and well wishers.
He was born on Aug 3, 1943 at 24 Pargana of West Bengal. He passed matriculation examination in 1958 from Dhaka's Nababpur Government High School and higher secondary in 1960 from Dhaka College.
He obtained bachelors degree on Bangla Literature from Dhaka University in 1963 and had his Masters in 1964.
