Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the flyover via video conference at the Ganabhaban in Dhaka on Thursday.
“Traffic was a huge problem in Mohipal,” Hasina said. “The flyover was built to fix the problem.”
The 660m long and 24.62m wide flyover will bring relief to travellers on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway and the Feni-Lakshmipur regional highway, she said.

Construction began in April 2015 and was completed ahead of the scheduled time, June 2018. The prime minister expressed her ‘special thanks’ to everyone involved for the early completion of the project.
“Connectivity will improve and we hope trade, business and economic activity will develop alongside it.”

“We have made four lanes on the highway so that there are no barriers to travel.”
The number of commuters and the number of vehicles on the road has increased as the economy develops, Hasina said. The government is attempting to keep up with demand and make travel as easy as possible, she said.
A separate road has been constructed near the highway for local commuters so that the speed on the highway can be maintained, Hasina said.
