Dhaka, Apr 29 (bdnews24.com) – Ruling Awami League's Nurunnabi Chowdhury Shaon took his oath as member of parliament from Bhola-3 constituency on Thursday.
Deputy speaker Shawkat Ali administered Shaon's oath.
AL Chief whip Abdus Shahid, whip and Juba League general secretary Mirza Azam, AL joint general secretary Mahbubul Huq Hanif and acting president of Juba League Omar Faruk Chowdhury attended the ceremony.
The Election Commission on Wednesday published the gazette notification of Bhola-3 by-election result declaring Shaon as the new MP.
In the by-election of Apr 24, a total of 136,531 voters out of 234,926 cast their votes.
Shaon bagged 93,873 votes while his rival from main opposition BNP Maj Hafiz Uddin Ahmed got 42,658 votes.
Returning officer for Bhola-3 (Lalmohan-Tajumuddin) Nuruzzaman Talukdar formally declared Shaon the winner at his office on Sunday.
However, BNP since the election-day has been demanding cancellation of the election and also resignation of the election commissioners claiming massive vote rigging.
