Dhaka, 17 (BDNEWS) – Bangladesh Bar Council vice president Barrister Rokanuddin Mahmud Tuesday heavily came down against the Monday's ruling in the parliament over the ongoing movement of the lawyers.
"Lawyer would spit the ruling of the Speaker if it is reached to them," Rokan said while addressing an emergency meeting of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) organised in protest against the killing of advocate Khorshed Alam.
Speaker Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar in a ruling Monday described the ongoing movement of the lawyers as unconstitutional. He said the chief justice could bring contempt proceedings against those flouting the constitution by launching movement against him.
The former president of the SCBA also said that Moudud Ahmed, who was a crony of the autocrat in the 80s, has emerged as a neo-autocrat under the present regime.
Justifying the ongoing agitation of the lawyers, Mahmud said their movement is against the controversial judges.
Action will be taken in future against those who became judges by lackeying of the government, he added.
