The Special Response Battalion (SRB) has arrested a man in possession of 688 litres of foreign-branded liquor in Dhaka's Gulshan.
The man, identified as Mintu Chandra Sutradhar, 39, was arrested during a raid on the sixth floor of the NCC Bank building in Gulshan-1 on Monday night, according to a media statement from SRB-1.
The statement said Mintu and several others who fled had stored the foreign liquor there for sale.
Three to four people managed to flee when the raid was under way, but law enforcers were able to arrest Mintu, it said.
Later, acting on information provided by Mintu, SRB members recovered 765 bottles of foreign liquor from two rooms on the sixth floor, along with a mobile phone and Tk 2,000 in cash, according to the statement.
The seized liquor was worth an estimated Tk 6.1 million, it said.
Mintu was handed over to Gulshan Police for legal action, it added.
