Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch (DB) has arrested another man in connection with the raid, vandalism, looting, and gunfire at the New Gini Properties housing project near Dhaka’s ECB Chottor.
The suspect, identified as Mizanur Rahman, was arrested in the capital’s Matikata on Monday night, according to Deputy Commissioner AFM Anwar Hossain Khan of the DB Gulshan Division.
This brings the total number of arrests in the case to seven. Among them, two were apprehended by the DB and five by the Cantonment Police Station.
Deputy Commissioner Anwar said, "Mizanur's political affiliation has not yet been confirmed. Verification of all details is currently under way.
“He is the ninth suspect named in the case."
The incident of attack, vandalism, and looting took place on Saturday night at New Gini Properties in South Manikdi.
The attackers also targeted the Brownfish studio of content creator Salman Muqtadir, located within the project site.
Following the assault, Saiful Islam Bhuiyan, a director of New Gini Properties, filed a case with Cantonment Police Station.
The lawsuit names 13 individuals, including retired major general Golam Mohiuddin Chowdhury, alongside an additional 150 to 200 unnamed suspects.
Police noted that preliminary investigations suggest the incident stems from an ongoing dispute over land possession and takeover.
