Dhaka, April 30 (BDNEWS) – Eminent educationist, writer, Rabindra Sangeet singer and former teacher of Home Economics College Prof Dr Husna Banu died of cardiac arrest on Sunday morning. She was 81.
Dhaka University vice chancellor Prof SMA Faiz is her son-in-law. She was a regular contributor to the magazine 'Begum'.
She left behind two daughters, grandsons, granddaughters and scores of relatives to mourn her death.
She was sister of late Fateh Lohani and Fazle Lohani. She received a total of 21 awards for her significant contribution to different field including Begum Rokeya Padak.
Her namaz-e-janaza was held at the Dhaka University central mosque after Asr prayer. She was laid to eternal rest at the Banani Graveyard.
Leader of the opposition in parliament Sheikh Hasina in a statement expressed her deep shock at the death of Prof Husna Banu.
Hasina, also the president of AL prayed for the salvation of her departed soul and expressed her deep sympathy for the bereaved family members.
