Sheikh Hasina opened the mural around 11:00am in the memory of Bangabandhu’s historic March 7 speech at the Race Course ground in 1971.
The mural features a statue of Bangabandhu, along with a Bangladesh map inside the sun, seven pigeons symbolising March 7 and the liberation war.
Press Club Joint Secretary Mohsin Quazi, who is the Mural Consturction Committee Convenor, said the ceremonial decoration had been set up to mark the golden jubilee of the press club.
The Prime Minister had approved of the project at a meeting with the executive committee of Press Club on Feb 17.
Artist Abdullah Khalid made the 15.1 feet long and eight feet wide mural.
Press Club President Ali Abbas said the mural was set up so that future generation would know the real history of the liberation war.
