Dhaka, Aug 23 (bdnews24.com) – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday urged the university authorities to lay emphasis on research on the Great Liberation War of 1971.
She came up with the call when a delegation of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University (BSMRSTU) led by Vice Chancellor Dr (Prof) M Khairul Alam Khan called on her at her office, her Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad told reporters after the meeting.
The Prime Minister also stressed on maintaining a congenial academic atmosphere and ensuring quality education in all the educational institutions of the country.
The Vice Chancellor informed the Prime Minister about the decision of the syndicate to name five dormitories of the university.
The name of the dormitories would be Bijoy Dibash Hall, Ekushey February Hall, Swadhinata Hall, Fazilatunessa Hall and Jagadish Chandra Basu Hall.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, PM's Advisor Alauddin Ahmed, Nur-e-Alam Chowdhury Liton MP, Nilufar Chowdhury MP and PM's Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad, among others, were present at the meeting.
