Bangladesh will officially celebrate Eid on Friday provided that the Shawwal moon is cited on Thursday.
But the followers of different Pirs in these villages always observe most religious festivals like Ramadan, Eid, Shab-e-Barat and Shab-e-Meraj in keeping with the practices in Middle Eastern countries.
Pir of Chandpur’s Sadra Darbar Sharif, Md Arif Chowdhury’s followers have assembled at the Photo Journalist Association Auditorium in the capital’s Paltan for Eid prayers. The Imam leading the prayer was Shah Sufi Khwaja Baki Billah.
Billah said they observe Ramadan and Eid immediately after the new moon is cited anywhere in the world. He claimed almost 10 million Muslims in the country’s 25 districts are celebrating Eid on Thurday.
