The authorities also announced on Thursday the suspension of all classes and examinations.

University Registrar Mahbubur Rahman said the campus was closed to avert any untoward incident.

The campus would open after normalcy returned, he added.

Police arrested law department teacher Rajib Hasnat Shakil for reportedly bad mouthing in class nation’s founder Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Rahman said the arrest of the teacher had damaged the university’s reputation.
“Teachers, students, officials and employees are hurt by the arrest of the law department teacher,” he said.
Shakil was arrested from the university around noon, said Sonadanga Police OC Md Maruf Ahmmad.
He said Shakil was being questioned in a case filed on Thursday morning by SI Admed Anwar about his outburst.
Shakil reportedly called Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman a ‘Feraun’, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina an atheist and President Md Abdul Hamid a pettifogger, while taking a class in January this year.
“Higher authorities ordered his arrest after the case was filed,” said OC Maruf.
Earlier, Bangabandhu Foundation President Lawyer Abdul Malek complained against Shakil, and the university’s campus-in-charge, Anwarul Karim, submitted a written complaint to Dhaka’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Atikur Rahman on Wednesday.
He ordered Dhaka’s Kotwali Police to not treat the matter as a case but investigate and submit a report within Jul 16.
