Investigators say they are not ruling out any possibility including robbery, family feud and business rivalry.
The victim’s husband Shah Alam filed a case over Thursday’s killings without naming anyone.
Nasima Begum, 28, and her daughter Ria Akter Falguni were found murdered at their home on Thursday.
Police have questioned several people including the victim’s husband, brother and a private tutor of her children over the incident, Sadarghat Police Station OC Abul Kalam said.
He said they were not ruling out involvement of the victims’ acquaintances with the killings.
A detective officer had earlier said from the way the two were murdered, the crime seemed to be the work of amateurs.
The victim’s husband Alam claimed jewellery and money had gone missing from his home after the incident.
“We are investigating several options although we’re yet to get any clue,” city police’s Assistant Commissioner (Kotwali zone) Shah Mohammad Abdur Rauf told bdnews24.com. “We’re not leaving out anyone from list of suspects.”
