Dhaka, Feb 3 (bdnews24.com)— In the wake of continued bad publicity for the past few days, the military spy agency DGFI saw its chief changed in an army shuffle involving several two-star generals.
Mollah Fazle Akbar, who joined the army in 1976 through the third Short Service Commission, was promoted to major general and made the new head of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence, officials said.
Akbar succeeds Maj Gen Golam Mohammad, who will move to Comilla to head the 33 Infantry Division.
Maj Gen Abul Kalam will take charge of the Infantry Division based in Rangpur.
The Rangpur general officer commanding (GOC), Maj Gen Syed Fatemi Ahmed Rumi, will be the new chairman of the state-run think-tank Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS).
Brig Gen Mahbub Haider Khan has been made new military secretary, a position that deals with career planning of army officers.
The new DGFI chief, Maj Gen Akbar, was director of artillery at the army headquarters.
