Dhaka, Apr 4 (bdnews24.com) – Education minister Nurul Islam Nahid has been nominated for the World Education Congress (WEC) 2012 award in recognition of his outstanding contribution and dynamic leadership in the education sector.
The first World Education Congress will be held at Taj Lands End in Mumbai, India on June 29 and 30. The congress will bring several global personalities in education and academics under one roof, said a media statement of the education ministry.
The theme for the first World Education Congress is 'Leading in the 21st Century: Right and Access to Education'.
Edward Smith, chairman of the Award and Academic Committee of WEC, in a letter invited the education minister to accept the award and deliver a speech at the programme, the statement said.
The letter says the WEC jury board and the members of its board of directors nominated Nahid for the 'Award for Outstanding Contribution to Education' for his contribution to the education sector.
