Antar Chandra Das was an eighth grader at local Mukul Niketan High School.
He drowned during ‘Astami Snan’ at town’s Kalibarhi on Friday morning, Mymensingh Fire Service Deputy Director Abul Hossain said.
Das’ parents were with him during the incident.
Hossain said their divers fished out the schoolboy’s body after about an hour’s effort.
Doctors at Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital declared him brought dead.
The fire service officer said Das had died after being trapped in quickmud.
Earlier in the day, 10 people, mostly women, were killed in a stampede in Narayanganj during a Hindu ritual bath.
