Dhaka, Feb 01 (bdnews24.com)—The government has appointed career diplomat Mosud Mannan as Bangladesh's next ambassador to Germany, the foreign ministry said in a statement Monday.
He will be the first Bangladesh envoy to Germany in two years as the post of ambassador there has been lying vacant since the retirement of M Rahim.
The government in the last two years did appoint two officers—first MAK Mamood and then Giasuddin Ahmed—as ambassadors to Germany. But they did not take up their posts.
Mannan is currently serving as Bangladesh ambassador to Morocco.
He joined the foreign service in 1986, according to the foreign ministry statement.
He has also served in Bangladesh missions in Beijing, New York, Muscat and London.
