Chittagong, Apr 16 (bdnews24.com) -- The deadline for converting the metres of the port city's CNG-run auto-rickshaws into calibration ones has been extended up to Apr 24.
The traffic department of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) has made the use of calibration-metres mandatory in some 13000 CNG-driven auto-rickshaws in the city from Saturday.
But the conversion of metres into calibration ones started in Jan 2011 and it could not be completed yet by the selected five firms.
Faruk Ahmed, a CMP (Traffic) official, told bdnews24.com that the deadline had been extended as all the autos could not complete the metre conversion.
